Mercury Mover – Resize And Move Windows

Sorry for the lack of posts, far to much work has been piling up. Anyway, today I would like to do a quick mini review of Mercury Mover. In a nutshell its an app designed to enable you to move and resize desktop windows from the keyboard. There currently isn’t an implementation of this system within the OS, so a quick program like this is a must have for people who are keyboard based.

Move it, Resize it

Using Mercry Mover is really simple. Its a preference pane based application, as a result it doesn’t have an application dock icon as most apps. It is the type of program that you set up and leave, using it only when you want to. The preference pane is full of drop down menus and methods which you can change. As a result you can change the settings to suit.

Using the application is dead easy. You simply press the modifier keys, in my case Control + Command + Arrow. It will then have a menu pop up. Here you can then press a second modifer key and an arrow key to resize or move the window. You change change the re-sizing increments, most are either 1, 10 or 100.

Overall the application is simple to use. I could actually get used to using it.

Conclusion

Its a good application on the whole. The only problem with this app is that it tends to take over your screen. It can be a bit annoying. Although I reckon you would probably get used to it after using it for an extended period of time.

As is the usual recommendation, try this program out and see if you like it. You could add it to your collection.
