NewsTicker – Get A Live News Feed

I am sure you have looked at a 24 hour news station and noticed the news feed at the bottom of the screen. If you arn’t familiar with the wizardry of modern television, this is usually the most update to date news in brief headline form. It is actually quite useful if you need to capture the headlines before you head out of the door. NewsTicker is an application that emulates this process on the top or bottom of your screen. Its quite useful if you set the feeds to the latest news sites or your favourite blog that is regularly updated.

Today’s Headlines Are…

This application is very simple to set up and use. Once you you have defined your custom feeds (or using the ones supplied) the app is ready to go. At the top or bottom of the screen a small blue bar will be present. Here your feeds will scroll along showing you the headlines. It quite catchy and you can easily get a good idea of what’s going on. Its also useful since you can click on any of the feed items and go to the main source.

This app is customizable. You can change a whole manner of things including the size, speed, colour as well as the type of feeds you recieve. It allows you to change the program to make it work for you.

In conclusion, this app has a very specific purpose. If you want a news feed on you desktop it is great. However I did find it to be a bit clunky and pointless. An actual news reader is a lot more useful. However if you are using a Mac for an interactive setup on a screen on in a store, this application may come in very useful.
