ReceiptWallet – Manage Those Receipts 1
Tool
In these cash strapped times it is always a good idea to keep hold of receipts and track your finances. But receipts tend to be bulky and all of that paper can get in the way. What is better in this digital age than to track your receipts on your computer. This is where ReceiptWallet comes in. It tracks your receipts so you don’t end up with a draw full of paper.
Receipt Storage
The idea behind this program is simple. You scan your receipt (or take a picture), enter in a couple of details and it adds it to the database. You can then run reports to find out how much you are spending. For example you can enter in a lot of details such as the shop, method of payment, description as well as individual items on your receipt.
There is more to this program than simply scanning receipts. For example your can create collections. Collections are similar to playlists in iTunes. You can add pretty much anything into these collections. They are very useful for tracking individual spending.
You can also use ReceiptWallet to backup your receipts for something like tax returns. As well as this you can also email, print and view your receipts so you can always keep them handy for making sure you are on top of your money.
Conclusion
Overall I really like this application. It does is job very well. If I had a better scanner the OCR function would be very useful in automatically working out the price of the receipt as well as the individual items. There is a couple of problems with this program, for example it is a little “clunky”. You do have to do a lot of steps before you can fully enter a receipt. This is helped by automatically adding in various bits of data as your type.
