Organisation of files is a problem, unless you have a super organised Finder folder structure it may be hard to find everything and keep it together. This is where a program like Together comes in. It is designed to keep everything together and make sure you don’t have any problems finding files. Its a good application which is useful if you have a project running and files are located all over your desktop.

Keeping Things Together

This application is split up into two areas. The main application window which you can use to organise and view all of your files. The second window is a small tab area which sits on the right of our screen which you can use to quickly add files.

The main window is typical of any Mac application. If you have been using a Mac for a long while you will feel right at home. The program is split up into three distinct areas. The left hand sidebar which is used to view and organise folders. Like many applications you can make groups, folder, smart folders. Storing files is quick and easy. The majority of the screen is split up into a file view, like the in Finder and then a preview of the file in the bottom half of the screen. It makes it easy to see what files are.

The app also has loads of other functions such as applying labels and ratings, viewing and renaming files in Finder, as well as encryption. Its a useful application and has a lot of features which I think you will use more and more as you use the application.

The second half of the application which is just as useful and makes up a major part of the application is the Shelf. The Shelf is used to quickly add a file into the program. It enables you to add files as you work on your Mac. It will automatically add them to the relevant section (such as images, photos, text etc), you can also add it to a relevant folder if you have a project going. When you do use the shelf it will automatically display a Growl message, which is a nice touch.

Conclusion

This application is good, its well made and has some useful features. Personally I think this is a niche market application which not every one needs. Having said that, try out the 15 day trial and see if it is useful to you. If you are disorganised and you end up losing files all of the time then this application might be a useful choice. It costs $39 which is a little expensive but if you use if all the time it may be a sound investment.
