WatchMac – Keeping A Watchful Eye 0
Tool
Mac security is important, especially for laptops. You have invested a lot of money in a system and the last thing you want it to do is walk out the door and never be seen again. Although that really happens, more often than not people like to mess around with your computer usually at work or school. Although it can be hard to keep people from do this sort of thing, you can deter and prevent it by catching the people involved. WatchMac, is an app which monitors your computer for any sudden movements, or incorrect password entries and takes a picture of the culprit.
Keeping An Eye On Your Mac
As mentioned in the blurb, WatchMac is an app designed to watch over what happens to your computer. It specially monitors, sudden movements, battery removal, power cord removal and failed authentication attempts. When ever an intrusion happens, it will passively alert anyone around your Mac. It will flash the screen. I find this quite useful since you don’t want all of the alarm bells ringing if you are on the other side of the office.

Although the screen shot above, doesn’t show very much. Most of the application comes to life when something happens. For example if someone does have a failed authentication attempts you get a notice in the main app. This includes an explanation of what happened, including detailed information such as IP address and a photo of the culprit. You can also set the application up so on infringements it will actually email you the picture and information of who ever did the bad deed. This is brilliant information to take to the police or authorities, as it can help in getting your computer back.

This app is very useful, for keeping tabs on your Macintosh. There isn’t a lot you can do with the program, on a face to face basis, its designed so you fire it up and forget about it. The application can run in the background with out you ever knowing. The final application is $15 which isn’t to pricey, especially if you use your laptop on the road a lot and need this kind of safety barrier.
