I need a couple of alarm clocks. One doesn’t cut it, I tend to hit snooze, roll over and wonder why I am going to be late. Anyway I have round a really good free applications called Alarm Clock. It is an alarm clock program with built in timer and stop watch capabilities. It is great for anything that needs to be timed, or wake you up in the morning.

Get Up, You Are Late

This program is split into three parts, although they all follow a similar theme. This program is run from the menu bar. You can pick to setup an alarm to go off a a specific time, a timer to go off in X minutes or a stop watch. Each option has a couple of customization options to increase the functionality of this program. The interface is slick and very easy to use. You can also set the alarm to run from your iTunes library, so you can play your own music in the morning.

Setting a morning alarm is very simple. From the menu bar option you select new alarm. You then pick the time and the repeat. The final step is to pick the music you want to play. Normally you can chose to pick a song from your iTunes library, although if you don’t pick any songs it will do a normal beeping noise. You can have as many alarms as you like. The app also builds in functionality such as snooze and the use of the Apple remote.

As well as an alarm you can also have timers and stop watches. These use a similar interface as the image above. They, again, are simple to use. They comprise of two buttons to control the program and a main large timer section. It is really simple to use. Its great for timing for dinner as I don’t have to rely on my memory to remember to take chips out of the oven.

Conclusion

This app is really good for a free application. I have been using it for the last couple of days. It does get me up in the morning. The only problem I have with this app is that it doesn’t have a dock item, therefore you can’t Command + Tab into the program. This is really annoying for me since I tend to switch apps frequently and this hinders what would be a great application .
