Butler – Let Him Find Things For You 3
Utility
I like programs that make my life easy. I have a really busy week as it is and I don’t want to spend ten minutes trying to find a file that I no is on my hard disk. That is why I am trying out Butler. A program recommended my by a friend who contacted me. Butler in a nutshell is a program which you can use to find a lot of programs, files and other bits on bobs on your computer and on the Internet.
Let Me Get That
Butler is really simple, it runs from the menu bar and is designed to help you find items on your Mac and on the web. The menu bar is split up into two sections. An icon fro finding all of your common places on your Mac, like volumes, recently used folders etc. The other half is a search box. Here you can set which search engines you can use to search the web. Its small light and easy to use.
But Butler can do a whole lot more for example you can control iTunes, extend your clipboard and manage a whole load of things. As well as this you can also set up hot corners, hot keys and other bits and bobs to make running Butler a lot quicker and easier.
Conclusion
I like Butler, it is vast in size and has hundreds of features. If you are going to use this application it will take you a long time to get used to all of the features that the program has. This program is free so you don’t have to pay anything. There isn’t many downsides to this program it is just how you are going to us it.

Have been using for years. It’s a brilliant app that will get better as you learn more about it.
Word on the ManyTricks forums is that it’s going shareware with the next big upgrade-V5. But if you donate now you will get an automatic registration.Comment By Bertie on November 27th, at 10:53 pm

Nice one! – it has already enabled me to get rid of several menu bar apps. and dock items that individually did similar jobs – and I’m still exploring it’s possibilities. Seems to be an excellent desktop space saver and time saver.
