A person who contacted me asked me to review their application Sync-Mate, I was only happy to oblige. Sync-Mate is an application designed to sync files and folders from your computer on to your smart phone or pocket PC. Its a really simple application that has a lot of good little features for getting everything synced up. I don’t personally have a compatible phone but my friends has used this application and he says it works really well. My review will be from his experiences.
Using the app is very simple. Once you have connected your phone to your computer you have a variety of options in the application. On the left hand side you have sync options for Bookmarks, Contacts, Folders, iCal, iPhoto, iTunes, Mail, Notes, Time, To-Dos as well as a couple of other options. There is a couple of options that are locked until you buy the full version.
Using each sub options (as outlined above) has plenty of options so you can tweak exactly how the syncing happens. For example with the iCal options you can set the syn options from Mac to Phone, or Phone to Mac or both. It also gives options so you can resolve conflicts manually or by selecting which device has priority. Each option also has similar options so you can quickly set up exactly how you want the syncing options to work.
Once as you have set everything up hit the sync button and it will work its magic. From what I have seen it works really well. My friends was quite pleased with the results.
If you have a smart phone or similar and you want to try out a different application Sync-Mate may be a viable option. It does has a free part of the program, although you will really need to purchase the full package to get the full benefits of the program. There isn’t really any downsides to this program. The only problem I have found is that it install code in places where you need to have a admin password, as a result it randomly restarted my computer which was a bit annoying. Other than that it works quite well.
