Things – Task Management Made Easy 0
Utility
In everyday life you are plagued with requests and tasks from just about everyone. You have to make sure your buy food, the house is cleaned people have x, y and z. Without good task management this can become difficult and you will end up forgetting something very important. Not good. What you need is a task management program to make sure you remember everything. Here is where Things comes in.
Remember The Milk
Although iCal and Mail have to-do and notes functions, they aren’t the best in the world. It isn’t very powerful and it lacks on the features. Things is designed to fill the void and provide you with a program that you can use to manage your life.
Things is split up into 3 sections, although they tend to blend into one another. The idea behind Things is to quickly add a to-do set a couple of variables and then go back to what you were doing. There are a couple of ways in which you can add a to-do. There is the inbox which is a general dumping ground for to-dos which don’t have a place in the other sections. Then there is the focus section. This is sorted by when a to-do has to be done. For example there is the to-dos that you have to do today. Upcoming to-dos. To-dos with no time set. Finally the scheduled to-do tab for all to-dos that are scheduled in the future. Plus repeating to-dos.
The next section is the organise section. This is set up to organise your to-dos into various projects. For example you can have projects setup for work, home, this project that project etc. It is an easy way to see all to-dos relating to a certain task. Finally there is the log book and trash areas. These are archive areas which show you to-dos which you have done and any in which you have trashed.
The interface is very easy to use. You can easily see what to-dos you have to do, as well as this there are a lot of tools to easily organise and move to-dos around. The interface is really easy to use. You can have a whole load of to-dos set up within a matter of minutes. As well as this there is lots of extra features such as tags, descriptions as well as the ability to add other users.
Conclusion
I really like this program. I probably like it more since it is free. On the cost side, it is free until MacWorld where is become $49 or $39 if you sign up to a newsletter. The only problem I do have with this program is that it tends to be a bit confusion where you can put to-dos. It feels like you can put the same to-do in every section but only see it once. There is no feature that I can see that shows you everything all in one go. But that is probably me and I would get use to it the more I use it.
If you want to keep up with the latests post from iLoveMacApps I recommend you subscribe to the RSS Feed.
